08.19.11 UHC asks 'Is your practice ready for HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10?'
UnitedHealthcare encourages medical practices to begin the preparation for these two important changes as soon as possible in order to streamline the implementation process. The first step is to speak with your practice management software vendor to ensure that your system will be compliant with the upcoming changes.
UnitedHealthcare has a dedicated team working to become fully compliant with the new requirements. The team has scoped the impact of these changes on our systems and policies for commercial, Medicare and Medicaid claims processed by all of our health care plans.
UnitedHealthcare has been active with provider engagement; conducting town halls and sharing industry informative materials to share our transition plans and educate providers of these upcoming changes. Using its local Provider Relations and the Physician and Hospital/Facility Advocates UHC is committed to helping medical practices and facilities become compliant with these important regulations.
To learn more about the available resources UnitedHealthcare has developed for these two important changes, please go to UnitedHealthcareOnline.com and look under 'Tools & Resources,' then 'Health Information Technology' and finally 'HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10.'
If you have more specific questions about UnitedHealthcare’s readiness email 5010Questions@uhc.com or ICD10Questions@uhc.com.
